Board of Directors

All directors are uncompensated and  provide substantive time and counsel to management of Chernobyl Children's Project International.

Adi Roche, Founder and International Executive Director
Adi has spent the last 20 years committed to helping the people of Belarus and Ukraine overcome the consequences of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster.  The Belarusian government awarded Adi the Franskaya Scorina Humanitarian Award -- their highest humanitarian honor -- recognizing her work with the children of Belarus.  In 2004, Adi was featured in the Academy Award winning documentary Chernobyl Heart.  That same year, she was the keynote speaker at the United Nations General Session commemorating the disaster.  Adi has been awarded the European Woman's Laureate Award, Irish Person of the Year, and the Robert Burns Humanitarian Award, along with other honors, for her work.

Jim Douglas
Jim Douglas is a partner at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom LLP.  He is head of the firm's Banking and Institutional Investment Group, which he helped establish in 1985.  He is listed in Euromoney's Guide to the Worlds's Leading Banking Lawyers, Marquis' Who's Who in American Law, and Chambers Global as one of the world's leading lawyers. He received his JD from Fordham Law School in 1981 (cum laude; member Fordham Law Review.)

Sherrie Douglas
Sherrie Douglas has 12 years experience in management and investment banking.  As associate coordinator and Skadden Arps, she was responsible for staffing and managing a group of 80 lawyers. As an internal analyst as Pru-Bache Securities, her experience was in financial and strategic analysis for the Fixed Income Department.  She has a Masters in Business Administration from Columbia University School of Business. She spent 7 years at Credit Suisse First Boston, an international investment bank. Most recently Sherrie was at Goldman Sachs in the Capital Market Group.

William Novick, MD
Dr. Novick has been associate professor of surgery and pediatrics at the University of Tennessee-Memphis since 1993 and endowed professor of the Paul Nemir, Jr, chair of international child health since October 1999.  He received his training in general surgery at the University of Pennsylvania and cardiac training at the University of Alabama/Birmingham.  He is board certified in general and thoracic surgery.

As founder and medical director of the International Children's Heart Foundation, he has operated on over 2000 children with congenital heart defects in developing countries. His work in Belarus was featured in the Academy Award winning film, Chernobyl Heart.

Kathy Ryan
Kathy has 15 years experience as a business executive and consultant to non profit organizations. She spent 11 years at America Online, where she held executive management positions in the areas of content, marketing, communications, product development and design, public relations,  community building, direct mail and print advertising, product packaging, and for managing the company's relationship with a number of high profile business partners.
